The journey towards certification as a holy anointer brought me face to face with all the ways that love was blocked from living inside of me, creating chronic pain.
I learned to let the liquid light of the holy oils, caress, soften and open the blockages, eventually allowing my heart wings to spread more fully open, embracing my humanity, its gloriousness and its messiness.
I have always loved oils and have been working with them as an accredited aromatherapist for 25 years.

Becoming a certified scent anointing priestess has required that I step into a larger field of love.
Self-love, divine love, and universal love as she lands as truth in my being has become the most powerful road to healing that I have encountered after nearly 25 years of studying healing! This is truly the most personally alchemizing work I have ever experienced; the gift it brings to those who seek this particular healing is truly sacred and up till this point extremely rare.
Our Certified Scent Priest/esses have received training in the protocol of the ancient Myrrhophres Scent Priestessing and have offered anointings as a rite of passage to others in the traditions of the Egyptian Myrrophore pantheon and the Magdalene as a Myrrh-bearer in the Essene tradition. (She was considered a Chèvre Kaddisha, a priestess who is a myrrh bearer, washing and anointing the body.)
Unless they’re also ordained, they will not teach or transmit the works of the Rosa Mystica Mystery School or the Scent Priestess protocols.
Our Ordained Scent Priest/esses have successfully completed an apprenticeship: a 3-year protocol of advanced study.
This brings them through all the skills and practices that train them to embody ancient temple rituals as modern-day priestesses.
This involves the development of a wide range of sacred technologies such as: how to set the frequency of temple; how to create a beauty field; use of blessing bowls; how to work with high-frequency holy oils; the laying on of hands; sound healing; gemstone luminaries; crystal grid work; cleansing and purifying space; and clearing and discharging energy.
Apprentices receive a deep level of mentorship and supervision from Diana and Elayne Kalila so they can mentor and support the wider sisterhood of the Rosa Mystica Mystery School.
To become a Daughter of Devotion, the apprentice must demonstrate the presence and depth of soul development to hold the frequency of the Rosa Mystica lineage. Additionally, apprentices have received their full certification as Scent Priestesses. They are qualified as Sacred Celebrants, Grief Walkers, and Myrrhophores, offering extensive rites of passage from birth to death and rebirth.

Born in Brazil but reared in Virginia, Rev. Barnes is now living in New England for medical care due to illnesses stemming from acts of violence. But she continues to engage her work as she is able, with the hope that the new year brings total health and a return to full-time spiritual counseling, activism, teaching and writing. The former journalist is working on her first three highly anticipated books, two related supernatural true-crime novels and her first equally supernatural memoir, which spans nearly 50 years.
Rev. Barnes’ has ancestry in East India, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Brazil, and England, which has influenced her personal spiritual path in many ways through the years, though she is a knower that the magick will find the seeker in just the right way and at just the right time, well across the boxes we humans impose.
A core part of her philosophy is balance and the knowing that without balance within, humans remain powerless to create balance in the world. She joins hands with the world’s like-minded priestesses to be part of a force seeking to restore a long lost balance to a world and a populace crying out for help, never more than now, when there is such divisiveness and pain trying to tear apart her country (and world) in devastating ways.
